Has anyone here used sitewide link building on blogs and websites to increase their rankings and if so, what were your results?

Personally I see no big difference in sitewide or non-sitewide links, although sidewide links should be more valuable as all the links count. Just be carefull as Google might raise a flag if you have 10000 links in a single day even if they come from the same site.

Good point. I have seen people strangely acquire massive sitewide links without it affecting their sites. Must have a lot to do with trust factor I guess.

Sitewide links provide about the same value when it comes to SEO benifit. Google might count many, or several of the links on the same site at first, but eventually, they will reduce it to just one backlink that counts towards your pagerank.

However, sitewide links do provide more direct traffic, and the more pages the site has indexed in Google, the better, as there are more pages, and more prospective traffic that will see you link and maybe click on it.

When I'm building links for a site, I like to have both sitewide links as well as homepage links and also some deep page links.

I've been doing this for 6 years, I have 4 Internet businesses. That fact is no-one really knows what Google is doing. Google likes to keep people guessing with silly concepts like page rank, deep links, meta tags, etc.

I have a site that has 98% of its links to the home page, that home page has changed very little and it is #1. It also only has a page rank value of 1. It has been a top ranking site for over 4 years. I'm glad I didn't waste four years chasing the PR! Instead I built hundreds of pages of relevant content.

I have another site with no meta tags at all! It ranks very well too.

I have yet another site with only 60 links in and it ranks well.

It is not totally up to what you do or any one systemized concept. It is relative to the dynamics of your search term and the other websites efforts that are in competition with you. That will always be in a constant state of change.

Really appreciate all the help. I have a site that I have worked backlinks to to over a period of time without using sitewide. However, I see that many of my competitors are using sitewid links on approx 3 to 4 sites to rank on the top spots on the first page of Google. Somehow, I feel that if I am ever going to have a chance, I may have to seek about 2 sites for sitewides and then see how it affects my site over a period of 30 days before I seek out any more.

I have very bad experiences with sitewide links. Tragedy for the site with the links, and little progress for the other site..
