Just read the it here and I have seen same information about that. I got the red rep. for the truth. and that's why people often ask are your sites on the same ips when we are selling links. But another problem, one ip for one site is most SEOed? A ip address will cost $20/year, will you pay for so much money for sites on different ips?
No I wont.. Also according to Matt Cutts Video about sites sharing one host there is no problem with that it wont affect the sites SERP rankings if you're just a regular webmaster who owns 10-20 sites.
It's not the truth, it's the rumoured (feared) to be true, but nobody has any definite proof. I suspect there are good reasons for Google not to treat sites on the same IP as though they belong to the same owner and devalue their links accordingly. There are more reasons to be worried about directories which interlink excessively (ie, sitewide on all the directories in the network).
I think I should just point this out: You also need to HIDE YOUR WHOIS as well as host on seperate IPs. You guys do know that, right? Just having seperate IPs wouldn't be enough, because they could tell you're related by reading the Whois. The thing is, they can also tell you're related by mapping your backlinks. You have to go to a lot of trouble to fool Google over this issue, and the results are nefarious at best. You also run the risk of losing your hosting/domain if you falsify Whois info. That's the easiest thing a competitor could go after.
I always put sites that have links between on separate IP's.... I also setup it's own DNS hosts with the registrar, ns1.domain.com, ns2.domain.com...
Apart from all the John Smiths, and anyone else with a common name out there, who has a private registration.
I second tht - got first hand experience . Some of my sites (on same IP) were banned by Google as I interlinked them with sitewides.
The domain whois can be hiden, how to hide servers ip? I have removed all links on the sites with the same ip. All my directories are on the different A-class ips
Why leave things to chance? If you have a paid directory just buy a unique IP will cost you around $2 month but you give piece of mind to your clients.
In fact, I have 5 free directories But for the starter, they want to pay fewer and get more. Maybe what they want to know is how to build more dirs. on same IPs.
It's about perception. Many products are sold by perception, not always reality. If the client believes that it matters, then it's often a good idea to provide what is expected. I have 6 directories on different IP's and have done deals based on that, so the investment has been worth it. I once suffered a duplicate content penalty for having two sites that were very similar. Whether it was because they were on the same IP is up for debate, but it happened.
if same ip can be detected, not much more effort will be needed to catch sites hosted on neighbouring addresses.
