What do you say about this?

    http://joomla.medspan.info.

There are 2 ad units on top. On the left is encased in a rounded square. The other one sticks out...

This site is working very well for me at the moment, although after seeig some of those above I could do a bit of tuning!

The google search box is a waste of time though!!

I see only three ads in a page. You are allowed to have 3 ads and one adlink unit per page. Am I right? or not?

    I know this Website.
2 days ago I downloades the good modules for my Joomlaportal from this site.
That ads were not there before, they must be new now.

    I think:
the left one Advertisement with the 3 pictures and white Shadow is very good!!

But the right one looks really like a big big advertisement for toothbrush *sorry* It looks for me so.
The links on this Face (latest downloads) are not working, also when I am logged in, not working: "We should have had a valid file ID". But it is not so bad.
I thank the owner very much for these good Mambomodules!

I like the right menu, google ads would blend in perfectly if the hovering on the upper right menu is turned off aswell, then it is perfect!

I thought the very first example was quite cool but some of the others are just plain spammy.

There are sites where there are only ads above the fold, or the ads are so dominant [example] that the site looks like a doorway. As a user I prefer not to use sites with misleading or heavy use of adsense.

My sites aren't beautiful, designed etc but when this does happen my brief will be to make the ads integrated [example] but still identifiable. I want my visitors to feel confident that I've placed content on my site - or to know that it's outside my control (ie ads, from a news feed).

If I was to spend my $$$ on adwords I'd want to be very sure that the clicks aren't from people thinking one thing and getting another.

Make sure you're serving your users and your advertisers, and not just yourselves!

Sarah I respect your knowledge and your opinion
But I dont know what makes you call my site Spamy..[IMG]

I dont think I made a Spamy site...yes I know that ads on my site are very much mixed with the content and I have experimented a trick too ...(Read moooooooore.) but that is not to mislead a vsitor, that is just to maintain the decorum of the site.
I have put there some articles and tools which a newbie might find useful, and even a newbie can figure out that anything placed between "sponsored" tag and "ads by Goooooogle" si sure not an article.

again that is not made for adsense site.

    Note the word some!

By the time I got to posting I'd opened about a dozen sites. I wasn't about to critique each. But since you draw my attention...
    • the ads down the left are great. They're separate from the content, and identifiable as being ads and not part of the navigation
    • Noooot so for the 2 ads mixed in with the 2up/2down article options.
I do a bit of software support and I know how easily the average person gets thrown by odd stuff. In the past I couldn't see the point of the people who set themselves up as "web usability experts" but in recent years I've had less face time with real users and can see how I have become less able to predict what creates problems - because I haven't got my userbase on hand.

That's more extreme on the web where Google serves up dozens of really good sites for every query so the user will quickly flick from one to the next and you won't hear why they didn't stay.

Now, your site caters for the more websavvy so that's probably not an issue. However this one person doesn't like it so I'd tend to leave your site and not bookmark it for a return visit. You can afford to lose me...

I think your site is Made For AdSense. Then again I have a very ambiguous interpretation of what Made For AdSense means.
