Ok I see that everyone is getting the traffic, but is much of it converting? I just bought some targeted traffic and am curious if this "free" traffic is generating conversions for anyone?
Thank god I am not the only one . I was reading about thousands of visitors here. Submitted two articles and didn't get a lot of visitors. One of the articles was shouted a few times, but still not much. At least I know that my sites are not the only ones that do bad there I am also missing a latest entries tab. Couldn't figure out how someone is supposed to see my newly submitted article.
You bought traffic?? MMmmm that stuff is worse than crack,...... What you bought was some companies evil pay to surf visitors visiting your website because they are looking for free traffic. Do not feel bad.... free traffic from pay to surf websites does not converrt either.
LOL looks like I spoke too soon. Been out all day, came home then checked my stats I've had close to a hundred visitors in the last 15 minutes (already thats' 5 times my average it's only a new site), seems I made the front page of shoutwire then got and IRSpy/Torrent Spy. Only took 10 shouts to get to the front page it seems.
Me too. I got 444 diggs on my story http://digg.com/links/Fun_with_Hotlinkers and ended up getting about 7.5k visitors in two hours before the story disappeared in oblivion. Good thing is, I wasn't the one who posted it. But I take everything back I have said earlier. Seems like Digg actualy works and there are real people digging stories. Now I also know what kind of story they like.
Wow 7.5k in 2 hours is pretty good. I've only managed to get about 2000 from my shoutwire story in the last 20 hours. Out of that adsense earnings is only a measly $8. CTR goes down the toilet with this sort of traffic, even though my article is very ontopic to the ads and headline/description of my shoutwire story. I usually earn more with chitika so I'm keen to see what that earns me when todays report comes up. Still, I reckon this is good exposure for my new site should score me some nice backlinks which I sorely need.
I don't advertise on this site. Its my personal photography website. I don't sell photos either. I am just having fun with it, learning the ropes. Thankfully my CMS can be set up to handle quite a bit. I am on a shared host and this had me worried a little bit. Traffic levelled off at around 8k. I guess it all comes down to how long you can hold the position on the front page. The same article got pretty much nothing on shoutwire. It was just for fun anyways. How does shoutwire work? I don't see where new stories are put? How does the common surfer see a newly submitted story on shoutwire?
In my case it remains to be seen if the traffic converts into a longer term bump in daily uniques, but it certainly had a VERY positive effect on contextual ads for the day and affiliate sales. So for the cost of placing a graphic on my homepage for one day .... that's pretty decent.
I have to say I am still quite new to all this internet marketing, I just got my newest site up Monday and have had 4 sales (realestatearticlesplr.com) but I want to build a good flow of traffic so I of course tried the paid traffic route.. I am now laughing at myself for being so gullable well lesson learned I guess! the traffic is "supposed" to hit next week.. if anything comes from it I'll let you know! Cheers, Lindsey
All this talk of digging is hurting my brain! I'm completely new to this, have got my first site and realised you gotta get people to visit it too! That's why this is such a great posting, thanks. Couple of questions please since I've been looking at Digg but haven't created an account yet: 1. What makes a great story on Digg? 2. Is a story just a link to a webpage/blog? 3. How do people digg it if it's at the bottom of the list?
Lemonade Stand with three live webcams and X10 powerline control technology that allows you to turn nstuff on and off ... all raising money for charity - does that qualify as DIGG'able
The digg community is fickle. If you submit a link to a blog with information that can be found at a more authoritative site, the diggers will report your link as Lame or Spam. If you start submitting a whole bunch of links to your own blog, and the diggers catch on, they'll start to report your account as a spammer. There's more to digg than the front page. You can browse through all the submissions (http://digg.com/diggall), browse by category, and view a dynamically updated view of what's going on (http://digg.com/spy)
So putting all this into practise...Can you create a Digg account and promote your own site with a cool story? Pretty much all the Diggs I've looked at are about some story or another.
If your site offers something in regards to internet marketing, you can list a buzz (like a digg) over at www.imbuzzworthy.com . Same concept
Well let's try out this shoutwire thing, first time I've ever tried this. http://www.shoutwire.com/shoutstories I've got the one about FDA rejecting Green Tea claims. Interesting news I must say the least, as thousands of products boast these claims. Edit: direct link, http://www.shoutwire.com/comments/15867/FDA_Rejects_Green_Tea_Health_Claims
Sholiz- that's exactly the kind of submission that will get your URL banned from Shoutwire. An AP article ripped and pasted in a forum posting? I'm surprised nobody commented on it yet- but it will likely just slink down to nothing- at the very least. Just so you know for future reference...posting personal blogs usually gets the axe. Forum postings will get it quicker. (Speaking from experience, my friend). It would seem to be a popular subject, but that's what I meant in an earlier post in this thread- its luck of the draw on the bookmarking sites. Some really sophomoric subject lines get 500 shouts and blast to the front page in a few hours, whereas some well thought out nicely worded eye-catching titles go nowhere.
Ack! Didn't realize that, I didn't read through their TOS or this whole thread before submitting. I'm praying I don't get banned I did yield good traffic though, 351 visits but had a bounce rate of 92%
I would like to know too... Also... When/where do you draw the line in going for targeted traffic... sometimes "untargeted" traffic turns into REAL clickers/subscribers etc... is there a stat/ratio on this any thoughts on this? anyone? thanks
