I think if you have good anchor text the person clicking is interested in it to begin with. Im sure these sites have plenty different genres represented in their link banks but its all about anchor text in this situation imo

Digg is a bunch of retards that have nothing better to do.
Read the comments- they'll make ya sick...LOL
Go ahead and read the latest news of their alleged gaming of the system.
I posted 3 links to a blog of mine, it got reported and the URL blocked.
    What kinda bullshit is that?

    Shoutwire is the place.

Remember this folks- you may get a traffic spike for a time, but the sites are not designed for people to incessantly post their personal sites to.
The social networks of misfits will report you to the admins, blast you into next week in the comments section, etc.
I mistakingly thought some of these were for sharing our own sites- I'm finding this is NOT the case at all.
People WILL look at your submittals, see that most are your own sites and tear you new one. This is a fact.

Surely there must be some stories from folks here that know this to be true.
Go ahead- tell these folks what happens... ;)

I've said this before, but I will say it again:

I believe there is a market for an SEO service which gets pages listed on these social networking sites.

i.e. I will pay $X to get one of my pages listed on the front page of Digg.

#1- The diggers (and others) are not stupid.
#2- You are not going to get on the first page of Digg with your first submission.
#3- More than a few submissions of the same url (especially blogs) will show your colors.

Will- they all have some kind of anti-spam methods in place...so how would anyone get someone else's site on the front page of any of them?
    With some mind-blowing subject line?
Recently the "click clubs" got ratted out, with a big SB site called out on around a thousand sites.

Good luck boys and girls- let us know how it works out for you!

    Congrats.

Please don't take what I wrote as doctrine, its simply what I have seen, read and experienced.

Yep - the almighty buck can be quite strong ... ironically, there was quite a flap/buzz last week over some "odd behavior" of how some posts got to the front page despite not that many DIGGs. Puzzling was the fact that like 16 of the first 19 DIGG's were all the same people ... with one being the founder of DIGG.

Lotsa conspiracy theories all over the geek boards/forums - unknown what the real story was ... but I gotta believe any blogger/community forums would be hard pressed to turn down a big chunk of money for a mention and tons of eyeballs.

Probably depends on the site/situation. For example if you check out the shoutwire site, you can browse different stories on various topics...so if your story is relevant to your site it could be pretty good traffic.

I agree, same as any situation where there are lots of eyeballs there will be people wanting to advertise to these visitors, and not above using sneaky tactics. Right now I think a lot of these social bookmarking sites are fairly relevant and spam-free, but I don't think that situation will last.

This is my experience for adult sites; thehun.com gives a MASSIVE amount of hits. Same goes for nastygrrl.com (a "digg-site" for adult material).

anybody got any actual $$$$ figures for converting visitors or getting clicks from any of these sites? I think that's more important instead of just how much visitors you get.
