examples, as seen on: the wall street journal usa today new york times etc... Now i'm sure some sites bullshit - but what I'm wondering is, is what are the best ways (besides having an amazingly innovative site) to actually get some form of mention / document from these types of sources and not having to some type of huge advertising fee? for instance this site: http://www.workoutsforyou.com/demo_launch.htm (the beginning of the flash demo) mentions 3 of those sources and even more - and i can guarantee you there's nothing special about this site and what they're doing. obviously having those types of credentials helps sales... so i'm interested. thanks (ps, wasn't sure of the best forum to stick this in)
Perhaps they do stump up the advertising fee? Since more people are turning their attention online, rates are going down in other media. There are also an awful lot of websites which get a mention at some point in newspapers and magazines, and on TV. Try picking up your average newspaper or magazine, and actually counting how many urls get mentioned on a few random pages. There are tons. It's a kind of promotional tool for this kind of media, because they know a lot of websites will go on to say things like "as seen on..."
in the usa you have local TV stations that have maybe 400 people watching local new on a 5 block area, thats cheap to have an ad, and then you can claim AS SEEN ON TV for $200 lol
