i'm interested in creating two sites for the new fit from honda.. ive seen many sites like honda-tech.com, honda-acura.net, hondacivicforum.com where they just say they are not affiliated with honda and the sites have been registered for a while, in fact honda-tech being the biggest honda forum out there that I know of one of the domains i registered is hondafitracing.com, as at the time I seen so many sites with honda in there I hadn't thought about it being a problem. The other is hondafitperformance.com. I am not trying to represent Honda, just have taken a liking to the new fit, and would like to develop some sites. Does anyone see any problem with using these as my domain name? Also I seen someone selling a forum hondafitforum.com I believe and doesnt seem they were worried about any trouble Thanks
Anytime you use a name that is Trademarked, there's a possible problem. Honda is not a generic or unrecognized name. Assume the risk. I wouldn't bother asking anyone, you know it's a TM'd name. If you register it, develop it, - then it's your risk. It's up to the TM Holder and the Laws that portray this stuff - on how they perceive it. Good luck with your decisions.
There are trademark concerns, but IMO if your not using the domain in bad faith you should be ok. Some motor companies defend their trademarks more then others eg. Ford and Nissan. At the end of the day it's free promotion for them.
been reading more up on it and found a few cases where honda has taken domains from people, with only honda-tech.com being able to keep theirs due to providing a service to honda i guess I will keep the domain names for now and look for suitable alternatives
There is NO issue whatsoever. If you want the RIGHT answer, look at my registration page (1st link in my sig). Do the research (you'll see the authority noted in my disclaimer) and protect yourself.
I went through the registration page and seen what you did. Now my only question then is its a US code, which im not from the US. I'm from canada and would I still be able to use that same type of disclaimer?
