I am new, and very green, to this world but have started to dip my toe into affiliate marketing. I have set up a few domains on wordpress, some rank and some dont despite using the same link building campaign. None are in particularly competitive markets, in fact the ones that rank are probably more competitive, the only difference I can see is that the ones that rank are .co.uk sites and the ones that dont are .org.uk. Does anyone know if Google doesnt like .org.uk or do you think I should be looking from another angle?
There should be no difference at all between .co.uk and .org.uk - I've seen org.uk sites do well in the search engines. There are so many variables that it can be difficult to pinpoint the precise problem but I'm confident that it has nothing to do with having .org.uk extensions.
I read somewhere that .org site might be ranked higher because Google gives them a better credibility ranking. But I might be dreaming.
From my experience, google doesn't give any particular TLD extension more advantage than any other...it's more about the quality of the backlinks and the rate of which they're built. However...certain TLD's do get monitored more than others, such as .info's - cause they're used for spammy type sites more often.
