Sites on Unique IP's - advantage ?

    Hi Guys,

    I always had this question, what is the biggest advantage of a site that is hosted on a unique IP ? I have seen some hosting services that are banking a lot on this that the sites will be on a C Class IP !

    I have no problems paying in the extra dollars, But how can a site on a unique IP really leverage SEO efforts is my question as most of my sites are still on a shared hosting accounts and are doing good ?

    Hi Amit,

    I believe most people use different c class ip so they can interlink all of their sites. For example: you have site A, site B, and Site C. if they all come from different c class ip then you can link site B and C to Site A...that way you will get two seperate links right away. However, if you have all three site coming from the same C class ip then the links from Site B and C to Site A would be discount it by the SE. someone please correct me if im wrong.

    If possible I'd advise you to sign up with a wide host of companies, across the world ideally, then set up three way linking. Then providing they are relevant links, you will gain good results :)

    I would like to say ssandecki told the truth. It is not yet proven. But I think most of the SEO thinks it has importance.

    It doesn't have the direct impact on SERP. but unique IPs can give you unique backlinks.

    Think, there are many hosting sites where you can host many sites in a single account. You just need the additional domain cost. So if you host 100s of sites in a account and place a link of a particular site in them, then they might be treated as spam [as google can detect their same IPs].

    This things are still not proven. But I think more than 90% of SEO will agree.

    Yes that is correct guys, this thing is really not proven. But I think that it is good to have each site on the unique IP's. I think only Matt can answer this one !

    Your own unique ip address may help your search engine ranking.
    So when you select a Web hosting service, make sure that your domain name has a unique ip address.
