I think this is the best place to ask this question, and boy do I need help.

We make small web sites for clients. I get them made in India and Host them in the Uk. Here is my problem. When we type in www.thesitesname.com it dose not show up in Google search page. But if we type in thesitesname.com, leaving out the www part, it comes up. Confused!
To make you more confused, if I search for the site in the google tool bar, that I have, the sites show up, even when I put the www before the name.

As you can guess the programmer in India is saying its the Hosts fault, and, the Host is saying its googles fault.

Has anybody heard of this before, and what can we do. Need help badly, clients not very happy.
    Thanks

What exactly do you mean "when we type in ......"? Are you searching for the actual domain and hostname on Google?

If it returns a result for your domain (example.com) and not for the full hostname (www.example.com), it probably means Google hasn't indexed it yet. You can submit it directly to Google or create at least one back-link pointing to the full hostname that would get indexed.

For new sites, it takes a while for anything to show up in search engines so be patient.

Hi Boltok. What I mean by type in, is when I type the name onto Google.com. I am searching for the actual domain name. On google .com search page it says that no site exists. If I leave out the www part of the domain name, the site is then found on google. If I use google Bar, its found. But not found on their normal search page. A few of these site are nearly 6 weeks old, surley they would have being indexed by now.

The issue is that Google treats the www and non-www version of the sites as two different sites and one of them is being indexed by google. To fix this problem you need to do a 301 redirection to the one you prefer - visit this thread - http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=13
Depending on the hosting control panel you use you might just have to choose an option to do the 301 redirection. Cheers.

    Thanks Jhar.
My guy in India had it done this morning. That link you left looks very helpful. I have saved it and filed it to study it later, incase it happens again.
    Thanks B1gft
