I find digg and the like not so good for seo but great if you have a site that has its own style and your looking for repeat visitors. Since my blog was on digg I have been getting about 200 or some more UNIQ a day..

www.shoemoney.com/stats guess what day it was on digg =P

also it was only on the front page of digg for like 2 mins until the server died... I was not prepared for that onslaught

You need some new servers Shoe - Digg is intense, but shouldn't be a site killer unless you got tons of dynamic content. I ended up on the front page twice this month for several hours - I have the traffic analysis from the first one up here - note that Fark is about a double DIGG.

Ok, I set up a quick PHPBB forum at http://www.givemevotes.com. The URL may be a little misleading Please keep in mind, I threw up this forum more as a means to bring attention to posts on social bookmarking sites. Not as a means to cheat any system. If you see a post you don't like, then you simply don't go to that site and vote for it.

I think it's also a good list for all the SBM sites out there. I've added more to this list than in my previous post.

cacheing is the key word ;)

if you get dugg and make it to the front page with a stock wordpress blog YOUR GOING DOWN I can tell you from experience.

I have a cache module for wordpress now so im ready for the next digg if it ever comes

For those interested, I have posted the data from the second front page of DIGG in my 2005 christmas slashdot effect analysis - I stayed there for about 10 hours versus 12 hours on the first digg.

For my specific dynamic application, I don't remember the load factor ever getting into double digits for DIGG ... whereas when Fark hit (about twice of DIGG), I popped up to 50 for an hour or so ... but web server stayed responsive despite a bit of slowness. After stopping by the previous 3 years, Slashdot didn't come by this year (boo-hoo), but last years's data suggest they are another doubling of Fark, so that would have been an interesting stress test.

Let us know Shoe when you write another compelling blog entry and be happy to DIGG 'ya and hopefully get you to the front page so we'll see how well your cache module works! ;-)

And while I doubt this will make the front page of DIGG, those of you with kids will especially appreciate the time-lapse video of Rudolph landing on my roof, Santa disembarking, scrambling across and then down the chimney as 26,000 christmas lights are controlled by Internet surfers.

Are you seeking imitation sites with a particular theme (technology, software, political news, etc.)?

Here are a couple I've come across recently:

    Developer Zone
Lists several articles on the topics of computer programming, with an emphasis on Java and C#.

    Spankwire
Links to several ADULT sites, with pictures, so don't visit this site while your boss is looking over your shoulder.

Anybody interested, here is an excellent social bookmarking tool: http://ekstreme.com/socializer/

The Socializer allows you to easily submit a link to several social bookmarking systems. Instead of having a link to each social bookmarking website, you have a single link to all of them!
