I'm proud to say that my site appears third in the rankings of Google when you look up 'Forum promotion', out of 7,830,000 results. I haven't even really done too much for SEO, besides I mean, Meta on the first page, a few forum sig links, se-friendly links and submitting it to a few search engines. http://www.google.com/search?q=forum+promotion I was wondering, is this a good acheivement for a site that's been around for about 4 months? Especially since the only two above me are Digg, and another competitor who has been around three times as long as us. What's also funny is that it doesn't appear anywhere close to the first page on MSN and Yahoo.
Well it's good, but don't think you would've gotten that with a different domain name. So, now you are probably rich and relaxed after 4 months of trying. Upseting to me!!!
I'd expect you to rank in the first page on forum+promotion with that domain name. Its the domain name thats giving you the SEO value.
That sounds like a good result. And yes it demonstrates the importance of domain name. Are people actually looking for the keywords "forum promotion"?
The question here is, if there are people who search for the keyphrase "forum promotion". It is imporant to target keywords who has a huge number of searches. Regarding domain name, it helps! But not a lot, you can still rank number 1 even though you don't have your tareted search term in your URL.
Not to rain on your parade, but google shows only 1000 hits per month for Forum Promotion. Better start targeting some better keywords. Keep in mind that 7 or 8 million results is not very much.
