I've got several URLs hosted with a single web host. I noticed they're all on a shared IP. Does IP sharing affect my SEO in any capacity?
Well, just remember that a huge majority of websites on the Internet are on shared hosting plans...So I don't think it really matters SEO-wise. However if you engage in excessive cross-linking between your sites you might get penalized by Google...
Thank you. Here are the URLs: www.coloring-booksforkids.com www.silly-stuff.com www.yooper-michigan.com www.travel-smple.com www.sitefillers.com www.cartoonistconsortium.com All hosted via www.servmatix.com which seems to be a fairly reliable host. So I won't link any of these sites to one another is how I am percieving this. Just launched these last Dec.9 and already have the coloring one listed in dmoz (how it took only 6 months? I wish I knew) and all are at a page rank of 3 (not that it really matters in the grand scheme of things) . . .
If you do one way linking between sites on a single IP address it will pass very little link juice. And as mentioned cross linking may be counter productive.
I have not seen any affect on SEO and I do the same thing. There are so many sites that are on shared hosting plans that if that was the case, many people would be penalized. Even if you get a link from someone, they could be on the same IP as you if they use the same host. I cross link all my blogs and those links have always helped me. As far as DMOZ, I had my blog listed with in three months and a month later they removed it. Do not get too excited about that one.
As for me it's not share hosting but other black seo practises that leads to penalized by google. Link farms huge amount of cross-linking between sites on the same IP and so on. In truth most cross-linking is between sites on the same IP, isn't it? Therefore, conclusion is such as it is, but factors which influence on sites penalize may be diffrent. It's only assumptions one who know the truth is google.
