Can you find good sites for sale on ebay?

I know there are all kinds of crap on ebay. But what about quality established sites?

Has anybody here actually bought a site off ebay?

Occasionally there's some decent ones on eBay. The main problem is that they're always too high or too low. I've seen sites which supposedly make $200/month being sold for $9,000. To get past most of the crap, make sure you select 'Sort by Price: Highest First'.

Most sites sold on ebay are cookie cutter sites.
Then there are the so-called affiliate sites.
But if you look carefully at the sites being sold, ask questions of the seller, you may find a site that is not a cookie cutter.
Prices as mentioned in previous post go from cheap to expensive.
Pay attention to the details, like hosting and domains.
Plus the extra costs if you win, shown usually as handling charges.
I have seen sites that go for ten bucks, but the transfer costs are up to 250 bucks!
Plus hosting, do you have to stay with their hosting?
Or can you host the site elsewhere?

Lots of questions to ask before purchasing.

I bought a few sites on ebay, and in the end...spent more money than the sites were actually worth.

I've bought 2 sites off ebay. Both were okay and worth the price (about $100 each) - but I scour each week and look for something. Junk and more junk anymore. I havent found a good site in maybe 6 or 7 months now.

Odds are, you will never make back the money you spend on an Ebay site.

I bought only one off ebay, for less than $10. Needs alot of work, but the content and traffic is excellent.

I once found a DMOZ listed website PR4 for $85. So, yes, you can get real lucky sometimes.

Well i just bought my site from ebay. probably good deal because its a strange kind of site.

Well i got it for $36.00 including free transfer, i have my own hosting already and it averages $60/month in adsense.

Now that was a good deal.

The owner bought it for $150.

There is a dmoz listed site currently for sale on ebay. I never actually searched that way for them, I should do that sometimes, I suppose.

I agree with all the other posts. Also make sure if the site has many pages that it comes with a script to update the sites, otherwise the time it cantake you to make the changes would ad a lot of admin cost to the product.

    Kind Regards.

It used to be much better in the past. I remember buying a sites of real content and visitors. Now all/most offerings look like cookie cutter scams.

Nowadays you have to put -link in the search box to avoid having to wade through all the link sales:

E.g do a search "PR4 website -link" will not bring up 100s of link sale ads.

I have purchased 3 sites through ebay. You do have to sift through a lot of junk to find the one that is being sold by someone who put in some decent effort on their one site but now doesn't have time to maintain. There's lots of template sites for x9.95, free transfer, blah blah blah. I have been searching and setting a minimum price of $50, if I get to much junk I raise to $75 etc.

You still have to do a lot of sifting but if you can find 10 per year it might be worth your time.

I usually filter by price, from 200 to 25000, that gets rid of most worthless ads. However, it is still difficult to find a good deal in the 200-25000 range.

Theres a lot of turnkey stuff sold on ebay which really pisses me off.

But sometimes, if you are lucky you can find good stuff for cheap.

Sites on Ebay are sold by people that dont know what they are selling because 90% of the sites are turnkey sites
