Sites Flying in and out of Google Search

I have several sites from a month old to a year, and the past week they've been flying in and out of Google's search results, the return pages going up and down, including the results returned when I click "repeat the search with the omitted results included." One day 150, next day 40, next day 150.

Not only this, but it's saying something like "Results 1 - 51 of about 5". 1-51 of about 5? i do a search for a unique phrase found on every page of my site, and it'll return 5 pages.

One day my Google hits will be high, the next incredibly low, the next high again. Does anybody know what this is about

The exact same has happened to my site three times in the past two months. From number one to gone and back.

It's been happening quite a lot lately. My guess is that Google is constantly doing minor changes in their algorithm.

Before the latest Page Rank update the indexed pages was shown by Google were really weird. It displayed some pages that were deleted long time ago. I guess after the forthcoming PR export evereything will become clear, as it happened in January.

It's very natural to google because google uses different datacenter. Maybe when you refresh the page the results is coming from other datacenter of google.

by the way, i've heard of that happening, but i don't think that's the case here because my google hits go up and down too, and they'd stay the same if it was the database thing.

i hope when google straightens their ish out the page results are high and not low.

One of my sites has gone completely from the search results for all keywords. This happened on 26th march and they are not back. The full site is still in Googles index but not showing on search results.
    Is this a "normal thing"?

I am also experiencing the same thing --some times one of my old site ranks very high and sometimes can't even trace.

Is it a sign that the nature of bots or G algorithym is changing? I guess so---SEO won't be the same in 6 months from now if it really happens as I fear.:(

In my case, the number of pages indexed is pretty consistent but, unfortunately, I am not getting any raffic. I've lost my keywords.

I lost some major keyword ranking on one of my sites now only msn and Yahoo loves me :(
this costs me about half of the traffic but the strange thing is that the income is down by only 30%

This is normal. As I just posted in another thread, the Google index is constantly changing.
