Site's dropping like flies over night

Hmm, seems like something is up again.

SEBasic's Seraphim Proudleduck page has disappeared from it's number 3 position. I can't even see it within a few pages.

    Shawn's ebay page has disappeared.

And my Increase Web Site Traffic page promoting the co-op has risen to number two (via the co-op and sig links here).

Anyone else seeing total drops out of the google index in the last few days that are using the co-op? I know we saw some drastic changes a few weeks ago, and people kept speculating it has DC flux, but I'm not so sure that's going to be the case this time.

Using McDar's tool, I'm not seeing Shawn's page come up on any DCs (this was having akadns selected).

My sites are all fine and dandy. Then again, my sites are "legit" (non-affiliate) ecommerce stores. Perhaps the last Google shake up was directed at affiliate sites...

I've lost over 200 indexed pages over the past week, more then 1/2 of my BL's and have droped way down in the all in anchor. My SERPS have droped as well. About the only thing I can think of to cause the drop in BL's and All in anchor is the dropping of the Coop links since it's the main thing that got them so high to start with. Bummer. :-(

Agree, I believe it is content related.

Lowrider, it may just be what your sites are about.

But SEBasic's page is the real kicker. I just don't understand why/how that would have taken such a large dive since the competition they are doing is really no way affiliated with any aff programs.

And since splitting my co-op weight, my main site is now starting to drop to 16 (from 10) across all DCs. Good thing I don't do this for a living :)

Infiniterb, it is called over-optimization. Over-aggressive advertising which Google despises.
I do this for a living, that is what I haven't started my coop thing yet. ;)

I only have one site and it's not an affiliate site. We've been around since 1998. Granted some people are not fond of on-line dating/matching sites but a lot of people use them. And everything is legit and above boards. No spam, no porn or anything else strange. If Google does in fact despise over agressive advertising then the coop network could very well be the culprit. I would think going from 200 BL's to over 2000 in a few months might be considered "over aggressive"?

Toeing that line between natural and aggressive is what SEO is all about ;). My BL's went from 200 to almost 4000 during the last update and my site hasn't dropped significantly for my KW's and has shown major improvement in other, more competitive, KW's (that I havn't been optimizing for). So, I think that the recent Google shake up had more to do with targeting over SEOing and possibly affiliate sites. I don't think it has anything to do with the coop. I'm sure if you talk to other SEO's that don't use the network, you will see the same thing with their sites...

Lou, you are guilty by association. It's a high-risk industry like pharma, casino, mlm etc. Something that a lot of people want to see gone.

Just saying how it is ...

Im improving or holding steady , but my two affiliate sites have dropped bad , if I remember right this happened last January were I was in the top three for the keywords on my affiliate sites and good old google killed them off with many other peoples affiliate sites , it took me four months to get back in the top 20

    Maybe its kicking off again

Side note - Co- op only helps and is not a magic spell that takes you to the top , I still tinker every day and track every change I make so i can back track if I drop

Just to back up what VS said.

I agree that I don't think it's the coop network. I've visited many forums and read threads from people who have no knowledge of the co-op network, and they too have had a drop in serps.

I have signed up for the co-op but this was on a new domain, a forum, which I have taken down due to little time to manage it. My weight is 0% AND my backlinks in the last update went DOWN.

I'm thinking it's more to do with over optimisation. Reason for this, I increased my BL's by 50+ in the last 2 weeks, using my kw terms and the ranking for these keywords dropped more.

My site doesn't have any affiliate schemes.

My website is going up in all my keywords... Of course it will not go to #1 and stay there... It goes up, then down, then up again...

I'm relying a bit in the co-op for two keywords but i'm also using those keywords in other websites...

I don't think it has anything to do with the co-op, but now with the new code that removes the class="sumthin" in the links it will be even more difficult to see what websites are in the network.

Anyway, I'm still #1 to #10 in a lot of keywords and I use the network ;)

I've held a number 1 for 6 two word phrases since October 2003. Today they've gone.

I'm gonna sit tight, see if they do a roll back. I don't want to make significant changes only to find I'll rise again.

Have your sites come back yet? If not, it's time to email google about being totally nixed from the index and see what exactly happened.
