Sitemaps Page Priority

    I believe Google suggests 1.0 for the homepage .8 for category and .5 for deeper pages.

    I'm using a generated XML file, should I follow that protocol or is setting all pages to .5 acceptable?

    If you want to do it manually, I suggest you consider which pages you think is most important and give them highest authority.

    If you want to set all pages to same priority value, don't use priority values at all.

    If you think your internal linking structure promotes your important pages, then A1 Sitemap Generator can calculate and set the values for all pages.
