Hi, Do I really need a sitemap when using blogger? It looks like not all my pages are indexed. For example, one of my sites has over a 100 pages, but only 60 are indexed. Why is that, and how can I have all 100+ indexed? Thanks
There is not any hard and fast rule to use sitemap for your website or blog.If your website navigation architecture is crawler friendly and you are updating your content regularly, then you do not need to use sitemap to crawl your website.. If still your pages are not being crawled then just log in to webmaster tools and submit your feed url(atom.xml) to sitemap.
Even I thought that sitemaps are not at all required for a blogspot blog since it is owned by google. I started a new blog last month which was not indexed by google even after 10 days. Hence, I have decided to submit my feed as sitemap and soon all the pages were indexed in no time. The moral : Whether google owns the blogspot or not, better submit your blog (including the blogspot blog) to google through webmaster tools and be on the safer side of being indexed earlier
Thanks Dairyman. I do have it registered through webmaster tools. However, I don't know how to do a feed, and how to have that feed turned into a site map. Any website you can point me too for instructions? Thanks again
You don not need to do anything, just put your blog feed as blogname.blogspot.com/atom.xml in sitemap.. Just try it...
Thank you very much for this information. I am starting out with blogs and would be needing more information on how things work out in the net. I am glad I have come over this post and learn again another idea.
