Ok I have a site map for my domain bla bla bla... Now I would like to have a sitemap for my sub domain. Do I have to just add the sub domain sitemap to the domains sitemap(s) or do i have to add the sub as a new site and map from there... I'm sure this is a easy one for you just let me know... I'm new and just trying to understand. Example Site map: 1. Site - howtodothis.com | Site map - howtodothis.com/sitemap.xml Site - howtodothis.com | Site map - howtodothis.com/help/sitemap.xml or 2. Site -howtodothis.com/help | Site map- howtodothis.com/help/sitemap.xml
Your sitemap file for Google must be in the root of whatever is being spidered... if you are listing a map for example.com then your sitemap must be in example.com/sitemap.xml and NOT in example.com/other_folder/sitemap.xml or you will get errors from Google. The same holds true for subdomains.. sub.example.com must be listed in sub.example.com/sitemap.xml and NOT in www.example.com/sitemap.xml
Ok so if I did understand this right. IF I add a SITE as example.com/other_folder and my sitemap like this example.com/other_folder/sitemap.xml I will be ok However if I add example.com/other_folder/sitemap.xml as a sub to the example.com site I will get an error.
I can do many subdomain and can use many sitemap like sub1.example.com sub2.example.com sub3.example.com I can do like this?
I've got a good RP4 10 yrs old site of mine which is located at my ISP site (users.MyISP.com/MYsite/) - how do I sitemap it? OK, I registered "users.MyISP.com/MYsite/" with Google and now they want me to place that fancy generated html file into ROOT of users.MyISP.com (which belongs to my ISP) - what I obviosly cannot do. Is where a way round?
I believe they have an option for adding a meta tag instead. Think I read it in their blogs... http://sitemaps.blogspot.com/
