Sitemaps don't like mod_rewrite?

    Hey,

Ive noticed something peculiar, whenever i try to use any google sitemap generator they all seem not to work if i use them when my site is in mod_rewrite mode.

They just don't carry on crawling which is very strange. Any ideas why it does this?

    Thanks

My sites use WordPress, which uses mod_rewrite, and I've never had any problems getting my site crawled.

    Maybe it is something else?
    Perhaps a mod_rewrite gone bad? :)

Can we get a website url? :)

Very strange, ill have a lil few hours of testing normal mod_rewrite with a few mini pages, see what happens.

There must be some kind of an error with your mod_rewrite setup, when it's done correctly it should be totally transparent to any crawler.

If you provide some more information, it would be helpful. I am using mod_rewrite and sitemap without any problems, so provide more information and I would try to help you.

I have setup mod_rewrite on over 100 sites without ever having an issue with sitemaps. I would guess that there is an error in your mod_rewrite, but need more info to really help.

If they aren't crawling all of your pages, it may be broken HTML that is confusing the parser which would likely carry over to the search engines crawler as well.

Heh, i think i found the problem... my host changed servers recently... they didn't think to let me know that mod_rewrite hadn't been installed yet. I hadn't checked if it was working as it was working fully before *rolls eyes*

So hopefully it will be working again when they can be bothered to install it  Thanks for your help anyways guys!! Its nice to know you're there for me ^^

You need to change your HOST. Check out their TOS because their insensibility/incompetence costs your business.
