Hi All, I just submitted a new site map to Google and I fell back a few pages in the Google search results. I wasn't too high to begin with for my most competitive keywords but I did notice a change. So do you think the drop is a short term effect of submitting a new sitemap or something else? Let me know what you think. Thanks, Matt
Submitting a sitemap would not have a negative effect on your SERPs, I'm assuming your website is new, new sites seem to rank well in the very begining but drop off to their actually rank within a few days.
Hi ssandecki, My site is about 4-5 months old, it's rank in the beginning wasn't to good for the keyword that I'm after (futon/futons). I was on page 7-8 and when I submitted my new sitemap I fell back to page 12-13. My site map gave a big jump in the pages on the site, so I'm not sure if that has something to do with the change in rankings. Thanks again for any info, Matt
I can't imagine how the sitemap would effect your SERPs unless it was an incorrect XML sitemap. You can review my Google Sitemap FAQ I made for DP at the below link.... http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=531765
I think it could help you to improved SERP if you would use your keywords as anchor text on your sig.
Yup I have the samething, I just submitted sitemap last two weeks, seen alot of change, but it drop from page index 2,220 to 1,990, and now it's coming back....
