Sitemap.xml Techniques

    I've got one Query in sitemap.xml for our sites.

    Some SEO webmasters are not using below two fields in sitemap.xml.

    <priority>0.5</priority>
    <changefreq>weekly</changefreq>


    Do you think Guys, this is very Important to Set priority and change frequency in our sitemap.xml or only URLS name ?

    Its good to have those in your sitemap. It tells the spider when to return and how often. Here is a link to a sitemap I just finished which has even more details.

    I don't think search engines care much about that, I have removed them from my sitemap and noticed no change at all. I think what matters more to search engines is how frequent you update your content.

    I don't think you can tell Google when to spider your content - they're going to give it their own priority and spidering frequency.
