Sitemap with More then 50,000 pages

Hello friends,

I generated a sitemap for my site http://www.hotappz.com

It generated a sitemap with 240,000 URL's

And when I submitted it google is telling that the sitemap cannot be of more then 50,000 pages.

In past my sitemaps have never been so huge. So this is something new. Your opinions are needed.

You need a sitemap generator tool which can separate the found pages into multiple sitemaps. Perhaps also gzip your sitemaps.

For an example, check following files:
http://www.micro-sys.dk/sitemap-index.xml
http://www.micro-sys.dk/sitemap.xml.gz
http://www.micro-sys.dk/sitemap-1.xml.gz

I haven't test my software beyond 200k pages though
But the newest version (!) should be able to handle well above that.

Okay. You are maybe right. Bcoz it is already boggin down my poor server.

So I write a script in PHP and am just generating the sitemap from it. But still there is the prob of that 240,000 URL's
