Sitemap submitted - how long before pages indexed?

I recently redesigned a site to use static url's instead of dynamic url's and for the first time submitted a site map. It has been over 2 weeks and google/yahoo do not recognize any of the new url's with a site:url query or a linkdomain:url query. Should I be worried or do the search engines usually take a long time to update their records.

    You don't decide, they do.
You make a site, whatever site, whatever coding used and you have 50% chance to be indexed and 50% chance not to...

Since your site is already indexed search engines update their records basing on their past experience with it. If you used to update frequently then then they are likely to include your changes faster. Try to get a lot of new backlinks.
