Today I put in a Sitemap on my index page of my site and was wondering if I need to put the sitemap in every single page or just the index? Also, im honestly not even sure if i set it up right. I hyperlinked "sitemap" at the bottom of my index page and linked it to the xml format of it.

You should put a sitemap in the root diretory.

    example: www.yoursite.com/sitemap.xml

If you visit the location you should be able to see the sitemap.

Then don't forget to let the search engines know it is there with Google Webmaster Tools, Yahoo Site Explorer and MSN Webmaster Live.

I think you need to clarify your problem. If your problem is the sitemap for your site which is usually the page where you will provide users links to the entire site, then I think linking it to your index page and other pages is just ok. But if you are referring to the sitemap that you need to submit to search engines for inclusion then i think, you are doing it wrong...you should make a sitemap separate from your site pages and submit it to search engines like google. For more info on sitemap submission on search engines you can check my blog for that. [ axedbydax-webdesign.blogspot.com/2008/07/google-sitemap-submission-simple-guide.html ]

    goodluck.I hope this is helpful.
