Hello, We want to make a sitemap for the latest 24 hours entries on our website and remove the links from index page or latest updates page. Can we create a sitemap only for these latest changes/addition without having a negative impact on our google indexing or we have to make a sitemap for all the website links? Our website has 900000+ pages and we would like to have the sitemap only for the latest content. There are websites that copy our new content and they are indexed faster than us and appear in searches above us. Will this sitemap for latest updates help us ? Thank you for your time
So you use webmaster tool if you remove a link go crawl error so you remove your link if you want. So you see a content 24hr so you use paid tool to see 24hr results
Its a good practice to put latest links in a sitemap but the frequency of change depends upon the crawl rate of your site. If its high you can update sitemap daily with latest links and if its slow you have to wait accordingle so that Google collects you old (few days back) links as well.
Thank you for your reply. Right now we have a RSS file/page that holds the latest 24 hours update on our website and the google crawl rate is high. Can we submit the rss as a sitemap and remove the link from the website pages so others will not copy our content and use it as created by them ? I want only Google and the other search engines to see the news from the last 24 hours. Thank you for your help.
