HI, some one help me my question is i am creating a sitemap but i dont understand what is the maximum size (not pages) to create a sitemap file?
I think the size is not important. But you should not add more than 100 links in one sitemap (Xml) file.
XML files can contain 50.000 URLs per sitemap file and up to 10 MB Read this article to learn more about sitemaps (explanation and examples of all sitemap file kinds)
Any filesize, under 10 MB, as stated by Thomas. I have seen many sitemaps in that range and with long URLs and data for all of the changefreq, priority, and lastmod fields, it is likely that your sitemap will be less than 50k URLs. If you have short URLs and skip some of the additional info on 'default' pages, then you can fit more URLs into the 10 MB file (up to 50k URLs).
XML files can contain 50.000 URLs per sitemap file and up to 10 MB -> I agree with Thomas and I think file size is not an important problem...
you have to submit sitemap only, there are nothing to do with its size. create free sitemap in xml-sitemap generator, its really helpful to create sitemap up to 500 pages.
Size is just referring to the file size of the xml site map xml itself and is limited to 10Mbytes. I have doen quite a few site maps with large sites and as yet have not come across a map that size. Paul
This is the source for information about file sizes. sitemaps.org/protocol.php#index If your sitemap is too big, use sitemap index file (described there).
