Sitemap accepter, later an error occurs with no explanation!

    Hello,

    I have submitted a sitemap with half a million URLs consisting of an index sitemap pointing to other sitemaps with max. 50.000 URLs and 9 MB size.

    Google have at first accepted all of the sitemaps, showing green check icons. Later, on two site map files an error occured. But the error message is somewhat general, with no specific hints:

    "...there is an error occured... check if your sitemap fulfills our requirements and the file is accessible... "

    The files are accessible. Is it possible that because of one single dead link in a site map the whole map is rejected?

    What validators do you use to check the sitemaps?
