After a year or two year long link building SEO work, the new website is attended the sitelink structure by Google. A Google sitelink has at most 8 site links. Now the question is: Suppose that we have a new website for making SEO which has less than 8 site links. For instance it has totally 3 or 4 links including main page. And we make a long and successful SEO and backlink process for more than a year. Then what will happen in terms of sitelink on Google? When we search the name of the website, what will we see in terms of sitelinks? Only 3 or 4 of them or none? Do we have any disadvantage of having less than 8 links especially 3-4 site links? Do we have to use an average of 8 site links for SEO website? I would like to hear your thoughts and experience. Thanks.
Sitelinks take up more real estate on page one of the SERPs, so that is a good thing. The more visible your organic listing, the more likely it is to standout and hopefully get clicked. I think that sitelinks add a bit of "official-ness" to a site. In other words, I think from a user perspective they give a site a certain amount of credibility. As far a backlinks affecting what is shown as a site link... I think Google picks them based on which pages on your site are most important. My guess is that which pages they see as "most important" are influenced by several things: 1) The navigational structure on your site. In other words, which pages on your site are most linked to by other pages on your site. 2) Which URLs on your site have the best backlink profile - highest quantity and/or highest quality backlinks. So if you want to target 3-4 additional pages to start showing up in the sitelinks, try building backlinks for those specific URLs. And make sure that your navigational structures/interlinking of pages on your site link frequently to those pages.
Sitelinks represents the navigational structure of the website as seen in the eyes of Google. We cannot be able to force it upon Google but google's algorithm determines how and which sitelinks appear for your site. Hope that answers your question.
I think keeping up to date with google webmaster tools , making sure no links are not found 404, adding a correct xml sitemap along with corresponding internal link structure on your site will do wonders once you are already on sitelinks. To get "sitelinked", i think the above together with a correct link strategy will get you there in time. Webmaster tools is the closest you can get to help google find your content and get sitelinked today. Daniel
