Sitebuilder or.....not

I am Webmaster by definition only. I have been hacking HTML for some time but PHP, CSS & MySQL are new to me. My simple site at Justhost was put up with cPanel using rvSitebuilder which uses templates that are a bear to customize. This is unsatisfactory. I added a Blog & Newsletter. They each provided thier own login scripts and DB which is usatisfactory. I started over and coded by hand a similar site intending to create a fully customizable site with a single unified logon. Is it reasonable to continue by hand? Should I submit to a Sitebuilder and canned templates? (Maybe a different one.) Should I actually spend $$$ and get something like Dreamweaver?

    Your Comments Appreciated!
    Thank You

You should get some help from an specialist on that field for offering a customizable solution that later on you can handle if you don;t have the knowledge of PHP / MySQL.

Might I suggest Wordpress? It's very easy to customize and you can build a powerful website with it.

In agreement here!! The best way to get started is to download a free theme and play around with it. Try to figure out the various php loops and the css then you are away!

Wordpress codex is the best place to start: http://codex.wordpress.org/Main_Page
