I think that you need to act in accordance to the Google recommendations. As far as I know google welcome such links
Google is not completely opposes the site wide links. As I know, Google opposes only the links with heading of Paid links / sponsored links. david001 - wrong answer kmzeron - right - the links that throughout the site.
Site wide links are the links that are present on each and every page of a website. The best example would be Main Menu, as this menu is present on all the pages.
agree with the david/Kmzero part. But sitewide = paid links .... I think not. There are way too many sites that have site wide links that are not paid - i fact most site wides are not paid for. remember Google can't afford to get things right 60% of the time
Site-wide links make your link profile to look artificial, as you’d have hundreds of incoming links with the same anchor text. It could affect a site ranking when its constitute a large percentage of the incoming links.
Site wide links cant be all bad. Think about Wordpress, every site that uses it has a site wide link linking back to wordpress. If you look wordpress.org has over 145milllion links (according to Yahoo) and over 70,000 according to Google!!! So I dont think site wide links are a problem.
Thanks for the explanation. Would you recommend not using keyword terms for sitewide links on other sites? Or just using different terms for each site that you have sitewide links on?
If i ever have an option to get site wide links, i would go for it, no matter what the SEO freaks or google thinks.
I think site wide links is part of blackhat techniques.. Site links is good seo techniques especially if you have a target keyword for your site.
