Ok basically sorry to make this thread short! But theres really not much to ask! Basically im quite confused, i see one user saying sitewide links are good, and another person saying there bad! Can someone please point me in the right direction as im getting quite annoyed with people saying one thing, and someone else saying another! Seems the the whole internet is the same!
right ok, so would you say the links i have under "http://www.viewheroes.com" are only making my rank worse?
I don't think so, look at this web : bannaga.wordpress.com, this guy has a lot of sitewide links on his site, yet, I still can see he has managed to keep his PR which mean google doesn't hate his site
Sitewide links wil not hurt your ranking. Backlinks to your site are generally counted as 1 per domain.
not strictly true look how many people sponsor wp themes Its because each blog can have hundreds of pages which means hundreds of backlinks i have about 10 comments on a PR6 do follow blog all on different pages and they all count
I don't think it's a big problem, otherwise lots of sites would be negativily rated by google wich didn't happend at all...
I agree here, if they are not related and google find sites that sidewide link your site. Then it is not good. I am not sure what the penalize is but, i have one site, i it lost ranked in google for my keyword.
I have used sitewides for about 3 years now and I have never seen a penalty at all and some of the sitewides are directories and other non-related sites. Google just counts it as one and moves on. I haven't seen or heard about getting penalized for sitewides.
I've only had positive results from sitewide links That doesn't mean google loves or hates them Yahoo definitely loves them - they don't care.
Before tell such things always think with the head of Google. What if Google would penalize site-wide links ? Lot of PR9-PR10 sites would disappear (for example all CMS' homesites like drupal.org and so on) and there would be a lot of other trouble. There is no problem with sites wide links, this is a myth.
BAD BAD BAD. But I do it... And it happens in most cases. I think these days webmasters are beginning to disregard Pagerank and Alexa etc. Now they focus on social media and serps. Traffic basically, so they want as many links as possible
Like anything else, done in moderation sitewide links are fine. When those sitewide links include many unrelated niches, that's a different story. A natural looking link profile will have links from many different sources...
So basically, what you are saying is that I can get my competitor out of business by putting a sitewide link pointing to his site on a website that's totally different? Life would have been a hell if that were true!
