I have started adding a small button with "Site By unTangled Web" with a link to my site at the bottom of each page of sites I design. The link is obviously not content related - will google see this as spaming
i dont think they will, i have never been banned for gaining a site-wide link. and a lot of people that design sites do it also.
At most, it won;t benefit like a link from so many pages, but can't hurt. I have been proving text based advertisements on my websites, and nobody has complained of having any problems. One way links can neber hurt, if they start to hurt, people would start buying sitewide links to their competitors
Yeah I don't think it hurts either... but I believe that you get more "value" out of having many links from *dfifferent* IP addresses/sites. If you have a thousand links from one site/IP address, it's not worth as much as a handful of good PR links from different IP addresses... I do web design so I always put a sitewide footer link on the sites we do - hasn't seem to hurt at all, probably helped a little. But just not worth as much as different IP addresses pointing at your site. Cheers!
i'd agree, more value from links on different i.p's / sites than from one link on every page of a single site
If penality there is, I think the traffic you get will compensate on the long run but its a legitimate question considering msn.com won't even link back to microsoft.com.
