I want to know that whether I should get a site wide link or the link from only the main index page to get good Page Rank in search engines.
It is possible that pages other than index page may also have some Page Rank generally for high PR sites.
Google doesn't like sitewide links, they're perceived as lower quality and less relevant to the content than individual links. So the google algorithm supposedly discounts sitewide links very heavily.
I too prefer to go for homepage link mostly to get PR juice and sitewide links to get the backlinks more increase
index links would be best IMO. if you need more backlinks, then go for sitewide like americantruckbuyer said
I prefer home page links to sitewides. I think too many sitewides can trip a spam filter buts its o.k. to have some sitewides in your link profile.
So how many "sitewides" is too bad? I have one site pointing towards my website with 112,000 cached pages, my two word anchor text is across all of it, and I've been on the front page of google for that term for a week or two.
it totally depends on the site itself if it has its own inbound links and is a trusted site in google.
I very much doubt that you can have too many sitewide links. Most blogs which have blogrolls are usually sitewide. So if you had hundreds of blogs which added you to their blogroll, I dont think it would trip any google spam filters at all.
My Holding page- It was new 8 months ago, it has 3 pages...... one of which is a link to a blog with less than 5 entries, and no links to blog. Its above eccomerce shops that are well established, and trading including some worldwide names in the niche. The other link in- PR3 has DMOZ, quite old. I guess it's all conjecture, with a lot of information and misinformation out there.
If someone is giving link to my website then what is the problem with spam filters.Link cannot be considered as spam.
i prefer site wide links but you must also take care that links from different ips will rock one site wide link. shortly, more backlink is allways better
