I notice today another site has ranked top three for all the keywords I am targeting. To my knowledge their site is not aged as long, with fewer links back but still manage to rank respectably high from Google? Or Google is having another update again fluctuating the rest

Quality of backlinks is more important then quantity.

There are many, many, many factors involved in ranking web pages. Google boast (publicly at least) of using more than 100. You've named only 2. That leaves your analysis a little lacking, don't you think?

I guess I can write an essay if I was to go into full analysis would I? Yes I do agree with the link quality and quantity factor but I must say if a site is only listed in 0 PR directories vs legit relevant content links than I must say we should start submitting to those directory PR 0 sites caused they really work.
