    Hi ,

i purchased ihowto.com and the site was ranking top 3 on many jailbreaking terms . visitors were between 5000-10000 daily

i never done anything to the site to risk banning it .

Back in Feb Google banned ihowto from their search results . and of course visitors dropped .

Few weeks agoi i purchased a ready website and replaced ALL the previous articles on ihowto hoping if the issue is within articles it will be removed .

Afte reaaplying , Google messaged me that Still " Quality Issues"

If anyoe has gone thru this nightmare or is able to help please reply .

I am not sure if previous seller has posted links to the site somewhwere that get it to be banned !

Alll this is confusing to me

    thanks in advance guys

Do you have a cached version of your website? I've used computers and the internet to earn money for a long time and I can tell you that this happens.

the site was indexed by google and placed top 3 on many jailbreaking terms . like howto jailbreak iphone , redsnow , etc suddenly was dropped .

changed all the articles and what you see now is brand new ( not unique articles ) and still got message from google "quality issues "

do you think there is something external like links etc that keeps my ban ?

I could just check "ihowto.com" (you mentioned more than one domain). As you mentioned, duplicate content. This is a negative. Not so bad if your own content is duplicated elsewhere, but duplicating other websites' content is a negative. Your next negative is poor quality backlinks, including some keyword-stuffed anchor text.

    Suggestions?

Make a unique, original website? You don't need a new domain, as that's not the problem, but the content (and links). I didn't check if you're using cloaking, but you'll know that. (It' a giant no.)
Get rid of your rubbish backlinks? Don't just use the disavow tool, because they are still there. Actually making an effort to clean up your spam will look better.

Read the webmaster guidelines, then you'll understand better.

    Good luck!

I don't think you need to try for a new domain yet (it's no guarantee that you won't be banned again, may as well learn what your mistakes are now and fix them, to avoid being banned again), just to clean up your backlinks and have original content, i.e. don't rip of other websites. Stop by SEOmoz.org and learn about marketing without spamming.

Whatever new content you make can always be put on a new domain, if it comes down to this last resort. However, you would have had to do something quite bad to get permanently banned.

What did you do? Just because you didn't do anything doesn't mean that you did not, even if your intentions were good.

In addition, when did you purchase it? I can see that it was previously listed on Flippa, but unsold.

You need to ensure you have better control and record of what's done, especially if you're involving outside people.

You don't mention about link building? Yourself or hire someone?

Importantly, when did you buy the site and when did you get the ban from Google?

Well, you have a few options.

    1. Clean up the site in terms of content (and also under the hood, make sure nothing untoward such as cloaking is going on). Get a list of the links from Webmaster Tools and try to either get them removed or upload them to the disavow link tool (it's new in Webmaster Tools). Then re-apply.

    2. Get a new domain, but you still need to do the clean-up for content/site. Do this before letting the site go live, to be crawlable in any way whatsoever.

    Good luck, mate.

Google has been high on the double content, and no privacy statements on websites lately. it is because they are also at risk of being in a law suit also from their serps. They get C&D letters constantly.
