Site under DMCA policy?

    Hello,

I have a site about TV shows (TV series) and I post episodes for different shows. My posts consist of embeds and links from/to other sites that host the content.

As far as I've read it seems that my site too is under the DMCA policy regarding copyrighted material even though I don't host any copyrighted material.

Is this true, and if so, what would be the solution in case I got a DMCA notice?

    Thanks guys,
    Chris

If your site is hosted in USA Hosting, then you are in trouble as i assume, some hosting allow hosting any materials from Russia or China, and any offshore hosting you might have it might allowing any website.

but my advice to you stay out of any trouble and make a website that has no questions or get you in legal matter, or legal troubles.

I asked my host about this, and they said they would fully comply with
dmca regarding this issue. You may not be hosting the actual content,
but you are guilty none the less by offering links to the content. Your
host would remove your site so they do not face any legal actions.

OK, so what's the solution for having a site like this? Do you need to have it hosted in a country in which the DMCA is not applicable? I know that the European Union also has a policy similar to DMCA.

How about sites like SideReel who not only are they linking to sites with copyrighted content, but they also have Adsense... but that's another matter and it regards Google. It seems that in the case of a few large sites heads can be turned away.

    Hey there,

You need offshore hosting, or hosting where hosting (or at least linking to) such material is legal.

Thank you, I see that Canada would be an option. Do you now other countries?

Personally I have no dealings with any copyrighted content so I'm not sure i'm afraid..

Canada would be a great option if that's true.. But following a quick read-up, I only see that it's legal to distribute copyrighted music, as long as it's not sold.. But perhaps it's the same for films etc?

I wish you the best of luck :) Let me know what you find out, for future reference.. There's big demand for US shows over here in the UK so perhaps I could bridge things with offshore..? Probably wont though, I'm too careful!

Hosting in Russia is the answer. Try a host like majordomo.ru
