I recently set up a Google site targeted Adwords campaign with both text and banner Ads. So far, I have had zero activity. No impressions, and so logically, no clicks. What am I doing wrong? The only theory I can come up with; is that if your minimum bid is not high enough, your Ad will never show up. Am I on the right track with that assessment? If not, can someone give me a few relevant pointers as how to get my Ads to show on the sites I have targeted? Any advice would be gratefully received. Best regards, -C.
If its a new campaign, give it time to get evaluated. I would assume you've selected a few sites rather than the whole deal... if these are high traffic sites, it's likely that you bid neads to be raised a little. Also, check your diagnostics tool and see if that doesn't bring any insight into the problem (although I will say it hasn't been working properly for a few days now, for me at least)
yes if the bid is not high enough, it will not show at all or not very often use a bigger bid and go from there
For my targeted banner Ads. I am using about five sites of varying size. Including the EUobserver.com and english.pravda.ru which are visited by my target audience. I am starting to see impressions but not a single click. As for my text campaign? I am beginning to greatly resent Google. The price of a key word is not based upon its popularity but rather its lack of popularity. If your chosen keywords do not result in a high volume of clicks, the price of a key word sky rockets over night. Every time I log into my Adwords account my keywords are inactive, and Google is prompting me to increase my bid. I am not going to bid over a dollar USD per click for an obscure keyword, particularly when I am advertising a non-commercial site. I think it will be more economical to simply buy Ad space directly from the sites I wish to target and cut Google out of the process. Greedy, self-serving crooks as far as I am concerned. As
I use Google a lot, and you have to really find a way to beat them in their game to be profitable. That type of advertising is also not for every business, and you're at the end going to lose money in your case as you also stated your site is non-commercial. Forums are a little hard to get started, and it's usually harder for people to sign up when they don't see enough topics or users. My recommendation is to pay a forum posting service to get your site started. For example you can pay someone 30 dollars to each 100 signups and 300 quality posts. I've seen offers like that on the internet and on freelance websites. I'm pretty sure that's how I'd start a forum in order to attract other users. As far as Google, what you're doing would work if and only if you have a lot more sites to display your ads. Also choose only sites that have at least 10k Monthly visitors or more. Those couple of sites you choose must have very little traffic.
conservopath, http://adwords.blogspot.com/ google recently changed their site-targeted campaigns to the new placement-targeted version. they were having some site maintenance problems on the 10th as well, or your ads could just be stuck in review. either way, give it a few more days, and check your diagnostic tool to see if everything is running smoothly.
If anyone knows of a posting service that will guarantee 100 sign ups and 300 quality posts for 30 dollars, let me know I can tell you I wouldn't much appreciate members named yt#hjytuidfn and HHhhht#@jf. Like I have seen on some sites. Also a bunch of stock posts about Swiss Mountain dogs or Italian cheese making wouldn't be very congruous on a political discussion Forum. I know it will take time to attract members to a Forum which would appeal only to a very specific demographic. I have a lot of work ahead of me, but I am dedicated to the project. It's a real catch twenty two. People won't join a forum with little activity. So how do you get the activity?..lol I am not willing to pay 5.00 USD per click for the key word 'immigration'. Are Google nuts? Or do they think I'm nuts? Thanks for the input. -C.
I'm no forum expert, but I've seen people build a dedicated audience through a blog--THEN open the forum and promote it through the blog. The existing audience then enthusiastically joins because of the built up trust and enthusiasm generated through the blog. The times I've seen this, the forums seemed to take off very well, and quickly... I suppose, also, that once the forum was seeded with blog-readers, then PPC could be used to bring in even more people to the forum... Btw, I feel for you with the erratic CPC prices--I'm in the throws of my first campaign and experiencing a similar thing, I upped my bids as requested, then just happened to check back 45 minutes later, and had to up them again...so weird. My campaign was essentially shut down all day today, because I didn't know you have to check your bids every five minutes...
OK, I'll reveal my secret source afterwall. The site is www.scriptlance.com; Just sign up as a webmaster, then post your project including requirements, budget, etc. It's a wonderful community for any job. I can guarantee that you'll find the best deals/bidders there. Just make sure to hire someone with some good feedbacks.
Yes, we have done this, but it also takes time to promote a blog I am working all the angles believe me...lol It is hard to advertise a website when Google operatives are intentionally, manually pricing my Adword keywords so outrageously out of reach. 5.00 USD per click for a key word? Obviously someone is biased against my forum's subject matter. But after all, Brin and Page are no doubt Europhiles. It is good for business. Best regards, C,
I took a look at the site. I don't really need any help with webdesign, it's the talents of a Madison avenue marketing expert than I'm in need of...lol Hey! I am not a Peon anymore but a grunt? How glorious. Best regards, C.
