Hi, I just decided to try the site target option on Ad Words today. It is at $1 per CPM right now. So I selected a fair amount of targeted sites. Just wondering if anyone else has used this option and what they found the results to be like? Thanks
As an AdSense publisher, I'd like to opt out of any scheme that pays me $1 CPM. Unfortunately, Google doesn't seem to be giving me the option.
The site target option worked out well for me. Just select the sites which are totally related and also make your ads such that if a person has a look at them he just can not resist opening them because you will be paying per impression So in short if you are able to use it properly it really works.
I suppose if you notice one on your site you could block the url. Also, $1 won't get ads running on your site all the time. I think it all depends on how popular the marketplace place is for the words that are triggering ads on your site. I've tried bidding $2 - $3 cpm on some sites and the ads never show up....never a sinle impression. I upped it $6 and the ads started showing up right away.
Yea, I would like to opt out too lol at $1, there have been 0 impressions in 24 hours. I selected about 30 sites and about half are in the 50-100k daily range. I might bump it up and see what happens.
So far it's costing about the same per visitor for me. I've only tried it on 3 or 4 topics and it hasn't been great or bad.
Mine just kicked in and I had to scale back to $1. I was paying up to $3 per click. I did a couple tests. One test involved me using the same ad on a site target as I did on a the CPC option. The result was the site targeted ad was more expensive. Based on a $2.50 CPM for the site target and a 20 cents click cost on the CPC, the site targeted was was running about 9 times the cost. I then reduced the CPM to $1, and the result was still a cost of 400% higher. I deduced this was due to the fact that many websites don't have optimal ad placement and by paying per CPM, you are held hostage to their marketing inability. Of course, site target does allow you to tighten the reigns by visiting specific sites and adding them. This way you can ensure that ad delivery is to your liking. For my test, I selected a wide range of targeted websites without taking ad placement into consideration.
yea. Site Targeting can be good, but you would need to visit each site you add to the system extensively to see how ads are delivered.
