Site tanked in last update - where to go from here

One of my websites absolutly tanked in the last shuffle of results - and one week on, there has been no improvement.

So - where to go from here? This site was the shining example of everything that the White Hats preach on here.

    Lots of quality relavant content
Slow and quality link building from relavant websites
Nice but not over the top on page optimization
    Articles
    Press Releases
    Good internal linking
    Sticky and informative Content.

Google has rewarded me by kicking me down the rankings. "more of the same" would surely be a fools strategy, as that has gotten me from #1s and #2 to #71 and #72.

I would need to see the site to be able to suggest something worthwhile.

I'm in the same boat, seeing my main site: http://www.dogflu.ca which is a year old now and recently doing really well in serps simply vanish in last update... A lot of "quality" sites have been hit hard from the look of it, lets just hope they'll bounce back...

I don't think I'm delivering the definitive advice here, but from my point of view. If it were me, and I didn't have anyone to help me, I would focus on high-traffic links, not expecting but hoping in the back of my mind that the Google situation improved consequently over time.

I feel for ya and I'm watching this thread :)

    Try it. But remember:

"Live by the sword, die by the sword."

    Anyways, it won't get your site re-included p;

    When was the last update?

OP-Sorry to hear about your rankings. I wish I had some better advice, but all I can say is just keep doing what you are doing and hopefully you site will be back where it was. I tell you it really is scary hearing stories like yours since most of my search engine referrals are from google and I know that any day I could just disappear. It stinks, but it is a reality that we all deal with. Best of luck to you and don't go over to the 'other side' because in the long run white hat will prevail. (hopefully).

Without knowing a domain name to take a look it's difficult to say, but have you looked if any of your link exchanges have been removed? How long has this domain being indexed in Google?

We are talking a domain registered since 1998 and which seemed to have authority status. Add a word related to our content, and you'd find us number 1 within 5 days! It was a very powerful site, now - I wouldn't piss on it if it was on fire :(

Its not one of these made of Ads sites either. Its a pretty big business website :(

Just another point aswell. I notice that the number of links google show for me using the link:www command has rolled back to a previous time, when the site was ranked about where it is now. I know that these stats aren't reliable, but I wonder if it is some sort of roll back where my site is concerned. If that is the case, then I'm pretty optimistic that the site will return, so all I can do is try and hold my nerve I guess.

What a ridiculous business, lol. I still love it though :p

My suggestion would be to go spend £1000 with reviewme.com and payperpost.com. If you can't get bloggers to link naturally to you then nowadays its OK to pay them.

Get some good blogs to link to your good content. Go for deep links. Make sure the blogs are relevant.

If you want to PM me the url I can take a quick look this afternoon.

William I have started threads regarding this myself. My site has slipped back to exact numbers of shown backlinks and indexed pages that it showed a month ago, I am pretty sure this is a roll back and am also optimistic it will fix itself.

I would contact google and ask them why your site has gone from being highly respected in its search engine to nothing at all.

Tell them its harming your business and would like to see if it can be resolved so the rankings are back to their former self!

If it has pretty much ruined your website/business you still wouldn't do it even on the off chance they do reply?

I would do everything I could after so much work to make it a success!

You can submit a reinclusion request, just remembered this.

Also, it seems like Matt Cutts takes requests on his blog sometimes... odd, idk.
