A site that has been in google for some time now, 3 years + seems to have dropped out for no apparent reason, the homepage was the main one that i was getting referrals on, some number 1 results for targeted keywords. The homepage is still PR3 but when i use the cache function google says Your search - cache:http://www.*****.***/ - did not match any documents. I don't think the site has been banned, no black hat SEO has been used, i have a google webmaster account and it still looks active and some pages are still in there index just not the homepage. Any ideas whats happening?
Well last time I had a site dropped from Google it turned out to be banned. You may need to do some kissing up now.. Doublecheck to see that your site is 100% compliant with their webmaster regulations maybe? Never hurts to be sure.
There is still around 2500 pages indexed by google just not the homepage anymore, the info: operator did not give any results. If the site was banned would all pages be removed? The only thing i have done to the site recently was moved hosting accounts there was about 3-4 hours downtime but would assume this would not affect it?
It could be a temporary blip related to your server down time. Hard to tell. I would give Google a few more days before taking action.
I agree, i will wait a few days before asking for a re-inclusion request. If the site was banned wouldn't all pages be removed google not just the homepage?
all i can say... Google trying to have fair to have effective system on page rankings (they hiring world's great mathematicians, etc.), so that those who are cheating will be at least de-ranked but i see it's not yet perfect... but those site/pages which are supposed to gain reasonable rank suffers...
