Minstrel, if you want to see how truly effective submitting your URL to an SE can be. Try the following. Look at Google, Yahoo, and Bing(MSN) and make a not of your rank based on certain kw's for your site. Then submit your site manually to each SE. Once you've verified their crawler has hit your sites, wait about a week, and check those rankings again. Note the movement. I regularly re-submit my sites (after making subtle changes of course) every 3 months or so. In so doing, I'm able to boost SERP's, without relying on other forms of artificial manipulation, or BH bullshit. You'd be surprised how easily you can manipulate your position by simply using the SE's own submit url.
crawl in google and type" submit site to all search engine for free " and you wll get tonnes of sites where u can submit.
HAHAHAHAHA. I agree 100% with your original suggestion. There are about 4 Search Engines and the fact of the matter is that if you're site is worth being discovered, it will be. I suggest building a few backlinks and let the search engine find you naturally. Submitting your site to the Search Engines stopped being (if it ever was) effective about a decade ago.
Well, for my sake, I hope you continue doing things your way Is it safe to assume that you also feel that you're improving your likelihood of being indexed by DMOZ by magically hitting the submit button on their site? I'll take a quality backlink over submission any day.
Just trying to give you some advice on what works. You certainly are entitled to take the advice or not. I'm not gonna lose sleep over it. You're of course welcome for the help.
I understand. I just don't feel that what you're suggesting is the quickest method to get the SE to your site. I suppose if we wanted to get technical, for the moments it takes, one could easily do both and gain the effects of both methods. Cheers!
Yes. I don't think either method will harm your site. Though, I should mention that my method, if done improperly probably has a higher chance of causing harm than your method. If someone takes the lazy approach and spams their links all over, then they've really taken an unproductive approach to my suggestion.
I learned backlinks are best also. Directories are crowded and nobody surfs them or very few people surf the directories. PPC's and SFC sites are false traffic and worthless, at least to me. All I do now is put links all over the web wherever I can get them in. Works great! 95% of my traffic comes from refferer sites and only 5% come from direct and the search engines. Web is crowded also so unless you get popular the traffic isn't going to come from the search engines. Page bots help getting the web site pages out on the seach engines but still, it's only 5% for me. Linkbuilding works, just takes forever and a day to get enough links out the drive traffic up.
do you want your website all other search engine visibility then you should submit your website in search engine, start link building, social bookmarking, article submission and PR submission.
