What do you guys recommend for submitting url to hundreds/thousands of other search engines/directories. Is a software good to do this job or the the ones who do it through their website? Any recommendations?

when it comes down to it, seo is about hard work and dedication to the site and this is how you'll get the best results. invest your time in the quality of your site from the top down and it will be successful.

There is no need to submit your website to any search engines it's a waste of time. Just focus on building backlinks by article marketing, blog comments, directory submissions and social bookmarking to name a few.

Just build backlinks to "relevant" websites and search engines will find you sololy by backlinks. Submission services are a rip off.

I did try it out with one of my sites. Paid my $40 for submission to X number of search engines and web directories.

A few weeks after submission I've ended up with 50 odd links from various dircetories around the world. I know that I'm unlikley to get any traffic from them but thought those back links might for something.

Is it the case that these types of backlinks count for absolutely nothing in regard to my positioning in the search engine results ?

    Cheers

    M.

    My dear friend
Don't trap in those stupid and worthless adds or saying. Whoever says this is just a newbie or wants to sell or promote his product.

so listen the fact that google is the only search engine in the world which hold 75% of the internet market so why go anywhere else, remaining 25% market is in the hand of other 1000s of search engine.

Ultimately submitting single and one time link in google will automatically allow others to add you in their search engine.

Thanks mate for any further query you can ask without hesitation

Using softwares is not reliable for promotion purpose of any site, manually generated one way links are very effective and helpful in optimizing or getting good traffic on site via search engines.

For submissions software are not reliable and better not to use it.
