Site Structure: Pagination/Duplicate Content

I have a local directory site which lists the same business under different categories. For instance, Bobs Gym will be listed under Gyms and also listed under 24 hours. Does this create duplicate content?

Also if there are 400 gyms in one area i use pagination, A-Z, in order to make the navigation of the site easier. Two questions reguarding this:

    1. Does this create duplicate content? If so, is there a fix?
    2. When Google crawls the site will it crawl A-Z and then when the spider goes into A crawl B-Z again etc.? Do i need to put a nofollow on each letter or this is not a problem?

If its just 1 link then duplicate content should not be a issue. However Google is dropping the power of directories so you may want to hold off till we see what Google / Matt Cutts says about the matter.
