I didn't know where to put this topic so sorry if its in the wrong place. My host currently does not provide me with website statistics on visitors, hits etc.. I was wondering of what would be the best tool to measure this? I've heard of wecounthits.com or something is that any good? Any reccomendations? Many thanks in advance.
This is great script for any website with php support: http://www.bbclone.de Code (markup): Really easy to install, but sometimes hard implement within your pages.
Google Analytics is probably the best "free" tool - but it comes with a price. Google will have in its hands all of your conversion and visitor data, and they will use it. If you ever plan on putting Adsense on your site be weary of this - I spoke with someone at SES that hinted they are going to implement Adsense-related analytics tools at some point in the future. Since they already look at Adwords conversion data, I wouldn't put it past them to eventually use that data to adjust your earnings..
so what. If you're following scrupulous methods to bring traffic and generate high CTR, you've got nothing to worry about
Google's already using CTR and PR and other criteria to determine your earnings... what difference will it makes to use full traffic info? If anything, it'll help separate those of us who have good legit traffic versus those who have weak, unqualitative traffic, like frankcow hinted.
I currently have Adsense set up on this website, don't Google already know how many visitors i'm getting to my site? Or do they just count the impressions and log IP's and times of clicks? For example would Google AdSense currently (without being signed up to Analytics Yet) know how many unique visitors i'm getting?
If talking of statistics, then I'd prefer mint to anything else. Read here how Paul Stamatiou talks abou it .... http://paulstamatiou.com/2005/10/12/mint-appreciation-day/ One word >> AWESOME!!!!
If you have access to log file of your site you can try Webalizer: http://www.mrunix.net/webalizer/. Or Awstats: http://awstats.sourceforge.net/. They are free.
I agree. My point was that while Google Analytics is "free", it carries a price - i.e. giving them access to your traffic data. Will that stop tons of people from using it? Heck no...
