    Hi,
I know that site will take some extra time to load in the https
But it takes double the time to load .
What are the major reason to happen like this.
How to reduce the loading time ?

    FYI:
I don't use the hard coded links .If you request the page in https then all the link inside that page will be with the https only.

    Please advice me

Did you checked the site in different browsers? That may be a problem.

Size of images too could be a factor, as well as your own ISP speed can be a limiting factor.
Check with different browsers, change machine and also try opendns.com or similar for faster DNS resolution.

I believe yahoo has a tool as well that gives report on site speed, but not able to remember it's name offhand.

    Thx

i think the reason is as it also contacts the ssl certifiers server to check if the ssl is licensed

    Hi ,
i think the reason is as it also contacts the ssl certifiers server to check if the ssl is licensed
->I have valid SSL certificate and verified one.

Did you checked the site in different browsers? That may be a problem.

->yes ,I did and it is in all the browser .

Size of images too could be a factor, as well as your own ISP speed can be a limiting factor.
->how to reduce the image size.because i have around 15,000 images ,so i can treduce the size individually.

Check with different browsers, change machine and also try opendns.com or similar for faster DNS resolution.

->I will check this and i never tried it

I believe yahoo has a tool as well that gives report on site speed, but not able to remember it's name offhand.

->Yslow right? .Just now i installed and looking in it.

Anything else i need to do?

    Hi,
I am still looking into this issue and found that DNS lookup time is doubled for https compared to http.
This is the major one .because my site loads around 70 to 80 object and due the double the lookup time will leads to the speed issue.

1.Is there any way to reduce the DNS lookup time?
2.Why DNS lookup is double for HTTPS?

    Please advice me.

DNS lookup depends upon the server and your ISP - and at times beyond your control. However you may like to explore opendns - and see if that helps you.

To reduce image sizes - you would have to work on them individually or use automated tools that run batch process to reduce the overall size (but affecting quality)
Image heavy pages do take longer to load.

    Cheers

Usually SSL makes a site load slow if either the server is slow and encrypting the traffic or your internet connection is slow. If you have a decent internet speed then it could be your server needing additional "power".

Does the slowdown happen only at your location or from different ISP? A DNS request would be a second or two difference unless your default ISP DNS servers are REALLY crappy. Try using OpenDNS from your location, and try to access from different locations.
