Site Search Solutions ??

Any suggestions on a site search option for a site run on a Microsoft server? PHP is not an option and I don't want to use Google as their result page isn't professional. (This is for a client)

Do you keep all your content in a database, or is it all in files? (like HTML?)

If you don't need more than 1k searches a day, and you can convert a really simple php script to asp, you can use the Google API via Digitalpoint's script.

 

I found a simple free asp script that I have no idea how it works but it does.

 

You can develop a simple robot. but you need to have meta details in every page or your database file will be very big,

Make a robot using file operation in .net where by robot opens each file keeps meta at one storage location it could be text file or dat file whatevery simply searches that txt file and display results,

We have worked with 1000+ page website site search long back in asp , I am 100% sure you can do better with the stuff in .net.

I've used this a few times on different sites, it works well. It "spiders" your pages and creates a searchable database. It's easy to use. (ASP and MS Access)
