Site Search Engine question : re IP Addresses

Is it possible to replace the fqdn in the script with IP addresses?

Instead, I would like to replace if possible, http://search.digitalpoint.com with the correct and equivalent IP address.

The other question is whether or not your tool/utility/server will accept/route the request in the proper method.

I have tried using http://216.9.35.57 but I don't think it works or it might be the wrong IP.

    thanks,
    Scott

No, the search.digitalpoint.com server was made to "shield" people from the complexities of the Google API and needing to install things like SOAP on your web server. If you want to bypass the search.digitalpoint.com server, there is nothing you need from our end. You can get the Google API developer kit from Google directly.

Shawn, thanks for the reply. I am a little confused however. I do not wish to bypass the search.digitalpoint.com server. I really like your search tool and want to continue to use it. I am just wondering if I can use the IP address of the search.digitalpoint.com server instead of its FQDN.

The reason I ask is because my ISP host is not very helpful in fixing what appears to be a DNS problem with their php/web server. It doesn't resolve the FQDN of the websites, only the IP addresses, ex) will resolve http://64.233.167.104 but won't resolve http://www.google.ca.

    thanks,
    Scott :)

Oh, my bad... thought you were wanting to route it right to Google's IP address or something (sorry, was just skimming this morning, because I was late for something).

But to answer your question, no... you can't use just the IP because it's a virtual site on a shared IP address.

Do you know the IP address of their name server? I could look into it a little bit on this end.
