    Hi All,
I have a site running that has good traffic,(not my directories) and I want to rebuild-redesign. I would like to leave it up and build a site using oscommerce. The new site would have a large database full of templates, software, etc...and would take a few day to build. While the first site is running. When done, all I do is remove index of old site and it's files, new site up and running in place.
Could you start me in the right direction please.

    Thanks.

When I'm working on live sites, I usually create a hidden directory to do all the work in and then just move the new files over to the root directory when it's finished.

    Cesay thanks for the reply,
I knew it would be something simple, But what I'm understanding is, just a folder in my case public_html/directory?
I see where no links from the original site would leave it hidden. Most of my confusion is coming from (path) setting up databases, and files with the wrong path, then the corrective step to bring it on line. I will be calling the hidden directory something and the database file would have that path?

    Thanks again

Make it hidden and then move it to the new root folder.

I'll build the new site in the hidden folder and move it.
    Thanks
