New forum for the Sony PSP, with a promotional contest to start things off:

Comments, feedback are welcome. Forum is light on content (still new) but heavy on SEO modifications. Actually, any suggestions on what makes a successful forum would also be very welcome. Thanks for your time.

I like it a lot. You may want to make the forum titles (ie PSP News etc.) bold on the index page just like they are here on DP....just to stand out a little clearer.

Your forum is really nice looking and the color scheme is pleasing. The contest Idea is very good idea to grab new members. My advice to get more exposure to your site is to get other webmasters to exchange links with your site. I'll add a link to your site from mine. SupremeAffiliates.com and get you a bit of a start. Follow the links link in my main menu to see your link.

    Krash

Sorry this forum wont allow direct links to me yet.

Looks good, very clean. One suggestion I'd make is the register link is right at the top above you main image, once you scroll down to the useful content it is not obvious how to register, just wonder if you could have a more prominent register link for guests (as that's probably what you want them to do at the end of the day).

Thank you, krash, for the link idea and for the link! This forum was previously a link aggregate site, which was scrapped after the BigDaddy update. There are actually quite a few sites already linking in but more links=good.

dct, awesome suggestions! I've added a "register for advanced features" link at the bottom. One thing registered users can do is turn off the large banner image (but not the ads), with more features to come.

That's a good idea as I think if you're on the forum a lot that image would just get in the way for your members.

Nice site. Now all you need is the traffic. Why not turn off the ads initially till you build up a steady traffic ?

Excellent site, nice concept design. I would also consider turning the ads off to start with and get nicely established.

I've heard of doing this but have yet to do it. I'm from the school of thought of launching sites as completely done as possible. If I had a member supported site without ads, I'd be concerned about losing members by adding ads. No matter how much you justified, users will still feel violated that their online home is being invaded with ads (and talking about typical targetted male gaming users of ages 13-30, not talking about webmasters here on DP). I feel its better to set the expectation from the start by having the ads in place at launch.

Roadies, thats a really good philosophy, especially showing how well you know your target audience. The ads did not seem obtrusive to me at all when I was viewing your site. In addition, I'm sure you make pretty good earnings off of their location.

Nice site. Good thing that you have only some boards, let the number of boards as it is until you got more posts.
